Recalled FreeStyle Libre 3 Sensors Are Injuring Diabetics

The Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 Sensor and Sensor Plus were recalled. Potentially thousands of diabetics are being harmed by inaccurate blood sugar readings from these faulty medical devices. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises that Abbott has reported 736 serious injuries, and 7 deaths associated with this issue. If you — or a loved one — is one of them, you may be eligible for compensation. We currently represent many clients who suffered serious injuries requiring hospitalization due to the faulty glucose readings.

Faulty Glucose Monitors Can Hurt or Kill You

Some diabetics were getting low glucose readings that were wrong. This prevents you from keeping your blood sugar stable.

This puts your life at risk. Getting delivered the wrong amount of insulin can cause:

  • Death.
  • Seizures.
  • Neurological damage.
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • Coma or loss of consciousness.

Abbott, the manufacturer of the recalled FreeStyle Libre 3 Sensors, confirmed there are health risks in a press release stating, “If undetected, incorrect low glucose readings over an extended period may lead to incorrect treatment decisions for people living with diabetes, such as excessive carbohydrate intake or skipping or delaying insulin doses. These decisions may pose serious health risks, including potential injury or death, or other less serious complications.”
